Meeting and Event Space

The Infoshop provides meeting and event space to a range of activist groups and projects on a regular basis. If you are in need of space for an event or a meeting contact our Events working group (events[at]dcinfoshop[dot]org) to see if we may be able to help. Please send us information describing the meeting or event, the proposed time and date and some information about the sponsoring group.

Political Prisoner Letter Writing Nights
Second Tuesday of Every Month

Write letters to Political Prisoners!

Join us for the monthly letter writing night to support political prisoners at the Brian MacKenzie Infoshop! Once a month (the second Tuesday) we hold a casual get together where we write letters to political prisoners in the United States and discuss and share information, stories, and strategies regarding state repression of social justice and environmental struggles.

Envelopes, pens, paper, postage, and addresses and information on specific prisoners, as well as tips for writing to prisoners will be provided (but feel free to bring more of any of these items, including information on prisoners to support!)

Radical Cafe Nights
Once a Month

Our Cafe Nights are held roughly one Friday or Saturday night each month. We offer a low-cost vegan meal along with a speaker, film or other presentation as a fundraiser and awareness raising event for a specific cause or project. Thus far, our Cafe Night events have been fundraisers for the Infoshop, to raise funds toward space rennovations and improvements as well as to support Green Scare defendents. www.greenscare.org.

Previous Cafe Night menus have featured Vegan Lasagne; Tacos and Burritos, and a Southern themed menu with Fried Tofu, Greens, and Mac + Cheese. Presentations have included a showing of the DVD Animal Liberation: History in the Making; a presentation on a historic campaign against the Tav – high speed train project in Italy and an informational event in conjunction with the International Weekend of Resistance Against the Green Scare, in which funds were donated to the support campaigns of Nathan Bloch and Joyanna Zacher (www.ecoprisoners.org) We also recently hosted the renowned Traveling Vegan Chef, Joshua Plouge for a special 7 course gourmet dinner.

The dates of future Cafe Night events will be announced soon.
